What is Ginger Oil? Plus, 7 Uses to Get You Started

Ginger oil comes from ginger, a spice that has been used for millennias because of it’s amazing flavor affects, but there are so many benefits to this ancient root. It’s been used as remedies to help digestion, promote liver function, and has even proven to be an aphrodisiac! That’s a lot of good from one spice, and I’m just getting started.

Originating from Asia, South Africa, and the Caribbean, ginger was exported to Europe and India, then eventually, the world. Ginger oil is obtained by either carbon dioxide extraction or steam distillation. The therapeutic benefits of ginger oil stem from constituents gingerol, zerumbone, and zinigibain, which are at their most concentrated in the oil extracted from the root.

Using ginger oil by itself works just fine, but it also blends well with other oils, below is a small list of oils that work:

  • Lemon
  • Lime
  • Grapefruit
  • Tangerine
  • Orange
  • Eucalyptus
  • Rosemary
  • Spearmint

When you blend ginger oil with the oils above you’ll get tons of benefits! The first thing is the balance and enhanced properties of the ginger oil when blended. Blending is great because it brings out the most from all the oils.

Ginger works wonders on the body. Generally, people fall ill when the frequency of part of their body falls below an optimal range. Ginger oil helps bring these frequencies back in working order. Here are 7 simple uses of ginger oil to get you started:

Abnormal inflammation is the root cause of most diseases, so it’s important to keep it at a healthy level. Consuming anti-inflammatory foods and plants are the best way to decrease inflammation levels.

For cooking with ginger oil, use a small does (one or two drops) at first, and add this to any meal that calls for ginger. If you’re specifically looking for digestion aid, add two to three drops into a warm bath. This will help rid your body of toxins.

3. Strengthens Heart Health

Ginger oil has the amazing power to reduce the level of cholesterol and blood clotting in your body! Along with that, ginger oil also appears to improve lipid metabolism, which helps decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes!

For improved blood circulation and heart health, you need to rub a drop or two of ginger essential oil over the heart twice a day.

4. Relieves Anxiety

Because ginger oil contains zingibain - a powerful pain-fighting component - it provides sweet relief from menstrual cramps, headaches, backaches and general soreness. According to some, consuming a drop or two of ginger essential oil daily is more effective than painkillers when treating muscle and joint pain! That’s outrageous!

For a faster, and longer-lasting muscle and joint pain relief, rub two to three drops of the oil on the pained area twice daily.

6. Improves Liver Function

Due to ginger’s antioxidant potential, it has strong effectiveness in treating alcoholic fatty liver disease. This disease is significantly associated with hepatic cirrhosis and liver cancer.

To see amazing results and really heal your liver significantly, consume ginger essential oil orally every day for about four weeks. Also, go ahead and try a few drops in a warm bath to really soak those toxins out for good.

7. Respiratory Support

Respiratory problems range from mild conditions like bronchitis to severe chronic conditions like asthma. These conditions can be caused by inflammation in the throat or lungs as well as excess production of mucus. As mentioned earlier, ginger is very effective as an anti-inflammatory agent. It’s also been seen that ginger essential oil is also great at breaking through mucus. Gross, but a helpful kind of gross.

To relieve yourself of these respiratory problems, drink a glass of ginger tea, or add one drop of ginger oil into green tea twice daily.
